Brand:OpenAeros
Model : OpenCPC

* OpenCPC® is a registered trademark of OpenAeros LLC.

The OpenCPC® uses condensation growth to transform invisible ultrafine particles into optically detectable droples, enabling precise measurement of particles as small as 10 nanometers. This powerful technique allows for real-time detection across a broad size range, including the critical ultrafine region (dp < 100 nm) that most optical sensors miss. By leveraging this proven method in a compact, open-source design, the OpenCPC® delivers precision-grade particle counting at a fraction of the cost of traditional CPCs.

OpenAeros is proud to have designed and manufactured the OpenCPC with open source tools and iteration in mind, providing transparency of measurement and simplifying adaption to research projects or unique operating conditions.

OpenCPC was launched in 2025, utilizing 2-propanol (isopropanol) as its working fluid. As an indispensable tool in aerosol science, CPC can detect particles too small for optical measurement. By condensing vapor onto ultrafine particles, CPC grows them to sizes detectable via light scattering, thereby extending measurement capabilities to the nanoscale. These instruments are critical for applications such as ultrafine particle research, fluidity measurement, filter efficiency testing, and respirator fit testing.

penCPC leverages advanced manufacturing technologies combined with a simplified, low-cost optical detection system. This design approach yields a highly scalable and cost-effective solution, capable of detecting particle sizes ranging from 0.010 nm to 1 nm and concentrations from 0.1–100,000 cm⁻³, with performance and quality comparable to leading commercial CPCs on the market.
